*May 5-7, 2017 – Recall LaGrange, 1461 LaGrange College Road, Leighton

 

Commemorating the burning of LaGrange College-Military Academy during the Civil War in 1863: Recall LaGrange Festival, 2017 will be commemorating also the 75th Anniversary of the battle of Guadalcanal during World War ll, with both Japanese and American’s re-enacting the campaign. Featuring the only Marine Re-enacting group in the USA; Company E. 282, 1st Sgt. George H. Jones; the re-enactors also preform the Seven Years War-Revolution War, and Modern War on Terror. Other activities include the Cemetery Drama, 1800’s Demonstrations, and Special Ceremony for Mike Vanderboegh (Founder of LLHA)and School Day will on Friday with Educational Activities for the kids. Period arts/crafts will be on display for purchase during the entire week-end.

A Day in May at Belle Mont Mansion

May 6, 2017 - A Day in May at Belle Mont Mansion, 1569 Cook Lane Tuscumbia.  A special event at Belle Mont Mansion for artists and patrons of the arts.  Artists Martha Carpenter and Tim Stevenson and their artist peers from across the area will be plein air painting on the lawn of the mansion during the day from 1-4pm.  A special "tag-team" painting with Martha Tim will take place from 9:30am-12pm.  Artists reception and "Wet Paint Sale" that evening to benefit Belle Mont Mansion from 4-6pm.  Call 256-383-5052 for more information, artist registration and event ticket pricing.
