Open through June 26: Helen Keller Art Show of Alabama Exhibit at the Tennessee Valley Museum of Art (Wed. 1 Jun, 2016 10:00 am - 6:00 pm)

June 1 - June 26, 2016: Helen Keller Art Show of Alabama Exhibit at the Tennessee Valley Museum of Art, 511 N. Water St., Tuscumbia.  An annual juried exhibition of works by Alabama children who are visually impaired, blind or deaf-blind. The exhibition was established in 1983 as a cooperative project of the University of Alabama, Birmingham Vision Science Research Center, UAB Education and Outreach Module, UAB School of Optometry and the UAB School of Education. The exhibition tours throughout the state and is displayed here at the Museum during the Helen Keller Festival each year.  256-383-0533

The Friends of Belle Mont Mansion and the Colbert County Historical Landmarks Foundation will host "Art of the Dish," a unique antique china display June 23-25, 2016 at Belle Mont Mansion in historic Tuscumbia, Alabama. Antique and vintage china will be displayed throughout the Mansion and may be viewed during regular Mansion tours. This event will be held in conjunction with the Helen Keller Festival.
 
On Friday, June 24, a special luncheon will be held at noon. The luncheon will include a guided tour of the Mansion, interactive china exhibits, and lunch sponsored by Amelia's Café. Tickets are required and may be purchased in advance at Colbert County Tourism, Florence-Lauderdale Tourism, Belle Mont Mansion, and FiddleDee D! in downtown Tuscumbia.

Fri. and Sat. evenings (only) at 8 pm.  Performed, in an outdoor theatre, on the grounds of Helen Keller’s Birthplace, this award-winning play recalls the childhood of the deaf-blind child, who became known as “America’s First Lady of Courage”, and her gifted teacher, Anne Sullivan.
