Belle Mont Mansion

One of early Alabama’s crowning architectural achievements, the mansion is one of a few Palladian-style houses in the Deep South. This style stems from the neoclassical architectural design of Italian Renaissance architect Andrea Palladio. The mansion has a raised, two-story central section with flanking, one-story wings and a U-shaped floor plan that embraces a courtyard. Come to Belle Mont to learn more about Palladian architecture and to see first-hand the tantalizing clues suggesting the direct influence of Thomas Jefferson himself.
